Broadcast Flags

The Educause article mentions that Congress will soon pass the use of "Broadcast Flags." Has anyone read anymore information on this issue?

I was wondering that also so I looked into it. Here is my take. . .

It is basically that the FCC wants to make it impossible for people to download/store satellite radio broadcasts so they want them to have to send what is called a "Broadcast Flag" in the audio so that people cannot record and create their own library of music. They have already done that with CD's and DVD's so it was only a matter of time before they did it to Radio!

This is very interesting. I have never attempted to find radio broadcasts on the Internet so I did not really consider people trying to create a library of radio broadcasts. I'm not sure how successful they will be with this idea since it appears they have not been completely successful in doing it with CD's or DVD's.
