After looking at the Needs Assessments from my PD project- I realize that my initial idea was a little to complex... or maybe a lot!
I created a blog... www.jasperjenn.blogspot.com Send me an email if you would like to take a look, it is by invite only.
After reading the article about the technology standards... I once again find myself feeling SO FAR BEHIND!!! I would guess that most of the teachers in my building are not aware of the standards, let alone teacher them.... are they able to?
Do you find the regular ed. teachers in your building use technology in their classrooms on a daily basis?
Jenny, I am still waiting to get the needs assessments back for my PD project. I do feel that almost everyone in education is "far behind" simply b/c technology keeps speeding ahead. Those of us who are trying to keep up, I believe are going to just be able to make it.
I do feel that each year that comes will create a greater "divide" in those who are trying to keep up and those who are not trying at all. I believe that teachers really have to be coached on how to keep up b/c the daily routine is simply already full and complex. This will be the greatest challenge for those of us who are growing in this knowledge...to help guide and show our colleagues ways that they can efficiently implement technology in the classrooms, and in turn create some time that will also fulfill other standards.
I know that regular ed. teachers are using technology on a daily basis, but I feel that it is minimal due to classroom structure. I feel there should be more technology integration into the daily routine, however, I feel that schools need to learn how to do this. Even if a teacher wants to do this, time is always an issue and know how. And, as in any new challenge, the first steps towards this kind of change can be intimidating.
Does anyone see this as an easy task? If so, please enlighten us. I believe each school needs to be able to make a commitment to change, understand the reasons, and then as a team take steps to work towards that process of change.

Anna, Jenny, agree if feels like people are way behind in even thinking about technology in the classroom. A couple of years ago I started using instant messenger to be accessible to my students when we were not in class. I am getting my business cards replaced and I wanted them to put my IM on the card. They were confused and didn't think that was possible.I had to give in and let them put the department website on instead. They just could not see the need. I was also informed yesterday that my tenure file has to be a paper file because the reviewer could on handle an e format. Sad itsn't it?
